VOTE to See who Goes to an Alien World...

Was Jamestown any less Alien to Europeans...

...than Mars will be in 2023?
Hello Dreams 2 Mars Classrooms:

Humans on Mars? Sounds crazy, right? There was a time when the prospects for life in North America seemed just as crazy! My class compared 17th c. settlement in N. America to the plans to settle Mars in 2023. We used the same criteria that Mars One has used to select their applicants.

Students made a (90) Second Video to promote themselves to be selected.

We ask that you take the time to VOTE for the (2) Settlers that will be best suited for this Adventure... Leave a comment and tell us which one landscape will be more "alien," the 17th C. North America or Mars?

More info on the assignment can be found on our CLASS Blog.

Teachers Launch Dreams 2 Mars...

Welcome! This past June I was fortunate enough to present the Dreams 2 Mars academic program at the ISTE San Antonio Conference.  I spoke to dozens of teachers from all over the US and World who were interested in joining this academic exploration. I am thrilled to say we are up and running here on Blogger and by proxy, Google. I hope this site provides a little more flexibility to post & share information than last year's Wikispace site and also provide unique ways to connect online like Google+ Hangouts. I will be the "moderator" of this Blog, however, teachers please contact me (see below) and I will add you/your class as authors so your class can add content to the site. That is the Goal.  Please read on for more information and stay tuned for more posts to come!

Project Goal:   The "Dreams 2 Mars" blog will provide a framework for classrooms (Grades 1-12) across the curriculum and across the World that can explore and explain Exploration and Colonization on Earth, the Moon and Mars. Indeed, potential themes for this project are limitless. We also hope this will be a site where a plethora of educational technology and multi media tools are utilized.

Where to Start? Scan the "Dreams 2 Mars Collaborative Classroom Questions to Explore" in the picture below and CHOOSE a question your class can explore. Then, post the results here in the blog. The intent here is to provide questions that are broad enough that you can fit them into what you already teach. Of course, feel free to think of your own questions.

Leave a Comment: We invite all students and teachers to read this blog's posts and leave comments or questions. Here is a video from 2012 D2M project...
